Design
The design of the Alpha resembles its name. It showcases a minimalist design concept that stays close to being a scooter made for the purpose. This scooter follows a design concept that could be apt for any person of the family.
Yamaha has carefully given importance to minute details while designing this scooter and made it desirable and attractive for an average buyer. A mixture of classic and modern design flows from the chrome plated designing of the Alpha commanding its pride.
The graphics that flow at the rear side of the scooter give it a modern look and appeal to the likes of the youngsters and mature alike and the Alpha logo engraved at the rear complete the rear side design queue of this scooter.
Handle Mount headlight
The headlight underwent a new design which looks more to the modern type look and sits well with the design stance showcased by the scooter. With the addition of better illumination and an added safety for night riding the handle mount design of the headlamp gives the rider better visibility even on twisty roads and curves.
New Digital Meter Console
The instrument console is digital and showcases all the functions needed for the rider. The design is made in such a way that it provides all the necessary information easy to read under any lighting conditions.
New Grip Grab Bar
Yamaha has made an easy-to-grip grab-bar for the new Alpha and it ensures greater passenger comfort for the pillion rider. The grab-bar is made with aluminium with a premium paint finish and provides confidence and comfort for the pillion rider while commuting in cities in heavy traffic and unpaved roads.
Convenient hook
Yamaha had carefully designed this scooter to cater to the need of the typical Indian family and this is evident from the convenient hook placed under the seat. The hook is perfect for carrying shopping bags with ease. The bags can easily be attached to the hook so that the rider can ride without any hassle.
Extra long and comfortable Seat
A much flat and long seat provided much comfort for the users and keeps the riders and the pillion comfortable while moving in and around the city. The wide seat is ideal for users of all ages and the Alpha is designed to meet the requirements of all the members of the family.
Easy Leg Reach
The carefully made large seat has a unique shape and comes at an ideal height of 775 mm. This not only ensures comfortable seating but also enables easy leg reach to the ground. The footboard shape has a simplified foot placement area which also makes it easier to reach the ground.
Large Underseat Storage Space
The big 21 litres waterproof storage area under the seat can hold full-face helmets, college books and tiffin box easily and the tail area of the under-seat space is designed to hold onboard tools and small items such as a waste cloth.
However, Yamaha did not provide USB charging in this scooter and an under seat illumination is also not visible, which is a drawback. The company could have provided these features as most of the scooters in the price segment comes with these features.
Large Footboard
The 250 mm wide & flat footboard in the foot placement area is free of obstruction and ensures both spacious; comfortable leg space.
Engine
The scooter is powered by an 113cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). It delivers 7 bhp power @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.1 Nm @ 5000 rpm.
The engine is refined to provides smooth acceleration and good pickup. The BS24 carburettor with Throttle Positioning (TPS) and Yamaha's engine concept idea Blue Core delivers outstanding running performance, excellent fuel efficiency and good emission quality.
Breaking and Suspension
An advanced disc brake system is provided for better control of this scooter. Yamaha also provides a drum brake variant with the Alpha
Designed for a smooth ride even over rough roads, the telescopic suspension of the Alpha keeps the rider and passenger stable & comfortable. The suspension combined with the tubeless tyres provide a lightweight, ride.
Mileage
The Cygnus Alpha scooter disc brake variant has Blue Core Technology and features excellent engine performance and good mileage of 66 km/L.
Colours
The new disc brake variant of Cygnus Alpha will be available in two new exciting colours - Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black. The drum brake variant of the Cygnus Alpha is also available in the market.
