Hero Duet Review: A Purpose Friendly Family Scooter

Hero has made many scooters for the Indian economy and adds to the list is Hero Duet, a unisex scooter with power and stylish features. First launched back on 2015, this scooter sits between the two offerings from Hero; the Hero Pleasure and Maestro, and borrows the same engine of Hero Maestro Edge. With the government introduced new pollution norms, Hero has also kicked in with a BS-IV compliant engine with AHO technology in this scooter.



Design & Style
Hero has made a purpose friendly scooter with the Duet. There are no kinds of unwanted graphics or design given to this scooter and it is made up of a full metal body with careful design queues that add a premium fit and feel. The Duet is designed for both women and men, unlike the Maestro which is intended to be for men and the Pleasure which is solely intended for women riders.



The Duet has a simple and standard design outfit and along side that comes a headlight which is blended with a handlebar unit and the turn indicators comes embedded alongside it. The body of the duel comes in between Maestro and that of Pleasure in size. A 3D chrome 'Duet' badging, at the body and a dual tone rear view mirrors and multi reflector tail lamps comes as the cosmetic fittings of this scooter.



The instrument console of the Duet is a combination of digital and analogue. A Side stand indicators, service buzzer and other details are shown in the panel and HEro also provide a multi-functioned ignition key.

For convenience and urgent usage, a mobile charging USB port and an external fuel filling unit is provided in the Duet. The duel can be a simple commuter scooter which can be used in and around the city with these features. hero has also purposefully added a big under seat storage with a light facility for the convenience of the users at night and in underground parking areas where there is low light.



The under seat storage holds a helmet, books and other essentials along with that a front and rear luggage hook is also provided. The new instrument console with a combination of a digital and analogue cluster combines the design and features of this family scooter.

Engine
The Hero Duet showcase an 110.9 cc Air cooled, 4 - stroke single cylinder OHC engine and produces a maximum power of 8 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 8.7 Nm torque @ 5500 rpm. A Variomatic Drive Gear box is used with automated Automatic Clutch for power transmission and the top speed of this scooter is 85 kmph.

The engine and the body kit of this scooter fit perfectly and it performs well on the street rides. The average fuel efficiency of Duet is around 50 to 54 km when driven in the economy range.

Braking and Suspension
The Duet is made with rigidity under bone type frame, which is found in other Hero scooters as well. In Duet 110, Duet comes up with Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at the front and Unit Swing with Spring Loaded Hydraulic Damper at the rear. With the new suspension setup, the Duet will be able to go over speed bumps, potholes and on uneven terrains with much ease.

Verdict
Hero Duet unlike many scooters around doesn't showcase any fancy kinds of stuff and graphics. This makes it ideal for being a unisex scooter, and the company has done a great job at making this a perfectly made commuter scooter. Basic amenities and technical inputs are provided in this scooter and the design structure and minimalistic design features of this scooter reflect a simplistic purposeful stance.

Hero has shown justice to the engine power, yet it has a fairly good fuel economy. With a judicial balance between power, looks and riding comfort, the Duel 110 is a sure bike that serves the purpose for what it is made for and the Hero Duet 110 is indeed what the company claims it to be and has all the things to be a perfectly crafted family scooter and the Duet is available in various shades; Panther black metallic, Nature green metallic, Matt vernier grey, Grace grey metallic, Candy blazing red and Pearl silver white.
