Its again great moments for India Yamaha Motor (IYM) that the debutant two-wheeler in the scooter segment of IYM, the Ray bagged the India Design Mark (I Mark) Award 2013. The award is presented by the Indian Design Council and the council is affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India. It is only the second year of India Design Mark Award. The previous award was also won by Yamaha via the R15 Version 2.0. So its the second consecutive year for Yamaha and more interestingly, Yamaha is the only winner of this award.
These is certainly no wonder for the Ray being the award winner. Since the time when the Ray was rumoured, the scooter was paid a lot of attention and became a stunning matter for columnist to write on. When the 2013 scooter awards were called out by several websites and magazines, the Ray topped the list with the most no. of awards.
Yamaha Ray is mainly focused on teenage girls. The company had already revealed their target while launching the scooter. The design and the quality by the Japanese two-wheeler giant can be reflected in the Ray.
The Ray comes with a 113cc, Air cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC,2-valve, Single cylinder engine. The machine is powerful enough to generate a peak power of 7.1PS @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.1Nm @ 5000 rpm. It's wedded with a smoother V-belt automatic transmission. The company offers a stunning mileage of 53 kmpl under standard conditions. The top speed of the Ray is 85 kmph.
Bollywood super actress, Deepika Padukone is the brand ambassador of Yamaha Ray.

Sources predict that Yamaha would be launching a 125cc scooter aiming the young men soon this year.
