The success of the Ray series and the Alpha, which were launched in 2014, seems to have given the confidence to Yamaha, to launch a new scooter in the highly competitive scooter industry in India. 2015 is a year that would witness the launch of Yamaha India's first 125cc scooter.



Codenamed as 04X, this scooter is currently under production at Yamaha's latest scooter production facility at Chennai.



The Yamaha Nozza Grande was initially launched in Vietnam, and based on the same architectural design of the Vietnamese model, the 2015 Indian model would be pitched against the Honda Activa 125, Vespa VX125, Suzuki Swish, Suzuki Access and other upcoming 125cc scooters in the league.



The launch of this new 125cc scooter would elevate Yamaha to a whole new level in the Indian scooter market as well. With the Ray series and Alpha running on 110cc engines, the launch of the 125cc Nozza Grande is a crucial step for Yamaha.



The Yamaha Nozza Grande is designed with a striking retro touch and yet, it sports a modern outlook. Going by the pictures released by Yamaha, the Nozza Grande boasts of a new tail light cluster and exposed engine along with too much of chrome on the scooter, which goes perfectly with the tastes of the Indian audience, irrespective of the age. It also features an LED pilot lamp, under seat storage light, analog instrument console with digital display.



This new entry scooter from Yamaha claims to offer a fuel efficiency of 54kmpl and would be powered by a 125cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a CVT and is expected to generate around 8PS of peak power and 9.5Nm of torque.



Adding to the technical features of this scooter are telescopic front suspension forks and spring loaded shocks with front and rear drum brakes. The Vietnamese version of the Nozza Grande gets a fuel-injection engine, while the Indian variant would miss that out to fit the scooter into the budget scooters category.



The Nozza Grande is expected to feature the same type of handling and riding dynamics which is seen on the Ray series and Alpha models and comes at an estimated price range of Rs 55,000-65,000, depending on whether the engine is fuel-injected or carbureted.
